I’m really tired of people picking on smokers.

I challenge anyone to say they don’t have their own issues: Food issues. Alcohol or drug issues. Depression. Anger issues. Greed. Slothfulness. Not one of us, smokers or not, can claim perfection.

At least smokers PAY for their sins with taxes that fund all kinds of good things that have nothing to do with nicotine or second hand smoke. (Playgrounds & library books for example)

Why don’t we instead decide not to judge anyone with habits different then ours? Maybe, let’s choose to unfriend them, but don’t choose to not love them. (Or maybe choose to NOT unfriend them, and use their words to learn to empathize with them.)

“If I speak in tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is Patient
Love is Kind
It does not Envy
It does not Boast
It is not Proud
It is not Rude
It is not Self-Seeking
It is not Easily Angered
It keeps no Record of Wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the Truth
It Always Protects, Always Trusts, Always Hopes, Always Perseveres.
Love Never Fails.”
1Cor 13

Even if you don’t believe in the Bible, I’m sure you believe in this “Love Chapter” from the Bible. Everyone would agree Love is the calm in the storm; the answer for peace; the antidote for war.

Now don’t be going all extreme on me. You know how I feel about predators who sell women and children into sex slavery (they should be unmercifully shot). (On that note: Bill Clinton,YOU were borderline! Monica was 22 Years Old! She had the best years of her life yet ahead of her! How old were you?! --Not 22-- How DARE you!! PROFANITY!!)

And terrorists are not really all that lovable. Although, terrorist communities thrive by brainwashing their children to hate. I suppose ANYONE who brainwashes a person to hate is a terrorist… in any country… in any religion.

But that’s not the stuff I’m referring to here. I’m just talking about the people we know: on Facebook or any other social media, or in our communities.

I want to live my life not caring if you smoke or not.
I want to live my life not worrying about what you think of me going to church on Sundays. And what you might think I think of you who don’t. And what else about that: I want to live my life not being timid to talk about my relationship with God even if you don’t believe in Him. I want us to be ok with you talking about astrology, and me talking about Jesus without either of us feeling judged.

I think it’s easy to love someone who wants all people to have the privilege to get married. I don’t understand why others wouldn’t want that, but I don’t want to live my life judging you.

It’s not easy to love someone who vehemently disagrees with how a country should be run, but it’s the right thing to do. At least to try.

So THAT is my platform speech if I ran for President. Or Cranberry Queen.
